About The Unplugged Camper

Although we officially launched our page in 2025, our camping journey began back in 2010. We didn’t have our own camper at first; instead, we started by renting RVs with my parents. They soon purchased a camper of their own, and we tagged along. In 2017, my partner and I bought our first camping trailer as we had started a family and wanted our own space to create lasting family camping memories.

My name is Ashley and I was born and raised in Bracebridge, Ontario. I’ve always had a strong passion for the outdoors, growing up riding snowmobiles and ATVs. I’m grateful to share those same adventures with my children today. We love bringing our ATVs along when camping, especially enjoying the thrill of exploring outdoors and discovering off-grid locations that allow us to unplug and immerse ourselves in nature.

In 2024, we made the exciting decision to move our family west. We placed our belongings in storage, packed what we needed into our camper, and hit the road. Traveling with two kids and two dogs, we took our time, explored along the way, and cherished every part of the journey. Traveling across Canada with our camper in tow has been one of my fondest memories, and I will cherish it for my entire life. Many areas had no cell phone service, allowing us to truly unplug and create countless great memories together as a family, free from interruptions and social media. Just us, the open road, beautiful scenery, and the warmth of the campfire.

We now proudly call Alberta home. Even in our first year here, the camping experiences we’ve had have far surpassed our adventures in Ontario. We haven’t visited the same place twice; each weekend this past summer, we chose a new spot on the map to discover. There is so much to see and do here, and we absolutely love every moment of our family camping experiences so far!
